Heroic Moment: Free Yourself from Fear

Heroic Moment: Free Yourself from Fear

You're exploring what it means to act on your values, to be your very best, and to be a hero.

Now you must journey inwards... to what you really fear... The will is everything. If you make yourself more..., if you devote yourself to an ideal, you become something else entirely.

Are you ready to begin?

Donna A. Favors identified four ways to deal with fear:  you can go over, under, around, or through. "But if you are ever to put fear behind you, you must walk straight through it."

Have you faced your fear?

A few years ago, I went through the most challenging year of my life. I was hurting, and I was lost. Most of all, I was on the verge of losing the people I care for most. In many people's eyes, I would've been completely justified looking out for number one and walking away.

It would've been an easy way out.

The future was terrifying and filled with questions. My fears poured over me, overwhelming and paralyzing me.

It was not until I embraced and explored my fears that I could act.

By imagining and stepping into a world where my greatest fears were real and right in front of me, I was able to search my soul, act on my values, and be the person I want to be.

I was not afraid to fight for my values; I had faced my fear and harnessed my core power.

Today, I have embraced a physical reminder (a tattoo) and symbol of this journey, a bat. In Mayan cultures, bats stand for complete dedication to one's personal and spiritual journey, as well as for confronting our darkest fears, initiation, and rebirth.

Without fear, you're free to be anything, to do anything.

Who will you be?
